Nevertheless, Deus Ex Writer Publishes eBook
ION STORM, AUSTIN (June 15, 2000) — As the release of Ion Storm's widely anticipated RPG/shooter Deus Ex approaches, the game's writer is offering his own work as an exclusive on the Internet at www.sheldonpacotti.com. His novel, Demiurge, published by Booklocker.com, will be the first of two books to become available this summer.

Hired in 1999 to write close to 10,000 lines of dialogue for what promises to be one of the most in-depth worlds ever created on the PC, Sheldon Pacotti is also an accomplished author whose work often touches on the future of gaming. His literary fiction has appeared in Bellowing Ark, The Bridge, and Foxtail, while his sci-fi stories have regularly been finalists in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest.

"I wrote Demiurge during the heyday of Doom, in 1994, so 3D gaming was certainly an influence. Unemployed and trying to finish the novel before my money ran out, I spent my last $300 playing deathmatch over a modem with my friend in New Mexico. Sometimes a piece of computer entertainment completely sweeps you away and takes over your life. In Demiurge, a Doom-like seduction is preying upon the world's people, a new species of seduction, mythical in its range and destructiveness."
